Option 1 Day Trip
For this option you'll be picked up from your accommodation in or near Cromwell. After pick up, I'll drive for about 40 to 90 minutes (each way) to our chosen water. This and all trip options includes about 8 hours on the water with full professional guidance, a healthy homemade lunch, rods, reels, leaders, flies and associated equipment, qualified casting tuition (if needed), DoC concessions, safety plans and high resolution digital photos- these will be sent to your email. At the end of the day you'll be brought back to your accommodation. You can opt for multiple consecutive day trips ex Cromwell, Queenstown or Wanaka. Half day trips are also available.
Option 2 Road Trip
In this option we basically hit the road for as many days as you like! This is a fantastic way to see some of the country and fish multiple rivers or lakes, or just to get to an area which is firing and then base ourselves there for a few days to maximise on fishing time. There are many accommodation options available from hotels to camping out. My accommodation, evening meal and breakfast are additional to my day rate while on the road. This is a great option to combine with a camp-out.
Option 3 Backcountry Walk-in
This option is designed for the adventurous angler! We walk into the wilderness getting well off the beaten track and camp there for 1 to 4 nights. This is a great way to experience the wild side of New Zealand! Crystal clear water, sight fishing for big browns and rainbows and just being part of nature is what this is all about. You'll need to be fit to get the most from this option!
Option 4 Heli-Fishing
This is a great option to get into the wilderness without the hassle of a long walk! This can be arranged for single or multi-day trips. For the multi-day option, we generally camp out, though sometimes backcountry huts are available.
Option 5 Lakes & Still Waters
Most people travel to New Zealand to fish the rivers, with good reason of course! However, the lakes over here are some of the best in the world, yet they are not highly regarded by most tourist anglers. I believe this is because they simply don’t know about them. I have spent the last 15 years loving this resource all year round! There are many ways to approach the lakes from sight fishing to cruisers in gin clear water, blind nymphing weedbeds, stripping streamers, buzzer fishing, fishing to tailers, lough styling, the list goes on. Why not give this option a try or add it to a multi-day or road-trip option. I think you’ll love it too!
With any of the above options, camping out can be added for an extra fee. I supply quality tents, mattresses and sleeping bags. Dinner and breakfast is also supplied with the camp-out fee. I will cook for you too! Campfire cooking is a speciality of mine and you won't be disappointed. If you like to have an alcoholic drink at the camp, that's no problem but you'll have to bring your own.
It's Your Adventure!
After you book a mission with me, I'll ask you a series of questions to determine your fitness, medical conditions and / or allergies. Also fishing / casting ability, your wishes and aspirations. With this information I'll design a single or multi-day adventure to suit your specific wishes, needs, fitness and ability.
2017 / 18 PRICING AND INFORMATION
This seasons rates are $800NZD per day for one, 850 for 2 or 900 for 3 anglers). Half-Day rate is $650 per half day. This includes pick up from your accommodation in or near Cromwell, approximately 40 to 90 minutes drive time each way to and from our chosen water (sometimes off-road), approximately 8 hours on the water with full professional guidance, a healthy homemade lunch (not included in the Half-Day option), rods, reels, leaders, flies and associated equipment, qualified casting tuition (if needed), high resolution digital photos - these will be sent to your email. At the end of the day you'll be brought back to your accommodation. The same day rate applies per day during a Road Trip, Backcountry Walk-in, Lakes & Stillwater, or Heli-Fishing option.
To add a camp-out to any day carries an extra fee of $250 per 1 or $300 per 2 people. This includes quality tents, mattresses, sleeping bags, all camping equipment, dinner, breakfast and my backcountry culinary skills! Each angler is required to carry his or her own tent, sleeping bag and mattress for the Backcountry walk-in option.
You will need a freshwater fishing licence which is not included in the above fee. This can be either purchased online at www.fishandgame.org.nz or arranged on the day from $20 NZD per 24 hour allocation. I recommend that you purchase your license before coming to NZ. This will save time on the morning of our day on the river or lake. If you'd like full access to backcountry rivers I recommend getting a full season license with a backcountry endorsement. The backcountry endorsement is free but can only be obtained by full season license holders. If you have any questions about which license to buy, please email me!
For most of the season we wet-wade here in NZ. I like to wear polyprops (mens tights!) and a comfortable pair of shorts. Others favour quick drying trousers. A tough pair of boots is important, not necessarily specifically designed fishing boots, but remember, they will get wet! Neoprene socks are great for keeping your feet warm when wet wading. I highly recommend you invest in a pair before your trip. I can supply quality Simms waders and boots for a charge of $50 per angler per day.
To secure your booking I'll need a 30% non-refundable deposit of $240nz per day. I accept the remainder of the payment on the day or before if you'd prefer. I reserve the right to postpone or cancel any trip in the event of dangerous weather or any situation I believe to pose a hazard. Full refund given in the event of an act of god, however if you, the client, are the hazard (drink, drugs, mis-information etc) there will be no refund given.
Please don't hesitate to email me with any further questions.
